The grand opening of Living Wisdom Village (LWV) was held on October 29, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the Crestone community. The event brought together dignitaries from the Colorado Department of Housing, a division of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), leaders from foundations such as Next50, representatives from Alcon (LWV’s general contractor), members of the Town of Crestone Board of Trustees, and other officials. Each played an essential role in supporting and funding the development of LWV.

During the ceremony, speakers recognized the dedication and perseverance that were vital in overcoming the many challenges faced throughout the decade-long journey from initial vision to project completion. Their remarks highlighted the unwavering commitment of Akia Tanara, Executive Director/Project Manager, and the CPCH board who worked tirelessly to create a community where older adults can age with dignity, enjoying friendship and mutual support.
